REMOTE FILMING LIVE STREAMING SYSTEM

Remote Filming was developed by Alex Seery, co-founder of HIJACK and Yanina Barry, Executive Producer and Founder of Good Films. It provides a unique service where you can see what the camera sees, wherever you are in the world, wherever your shoot is. It can be used globally for all forms of film production, including TVCs, broadcast and feature films.

The system has only 5 frames (0.2s) of delay from camera to viewers anywhere in the world. It’s end-to-end encrypted, reliable and extremely simple to use. There’s no need for users to have specialist software, and it can support unlimited viewers at no extra cost.

A secure password-protected link allows you to view the images from anywhere. The Remote Filming system maintains the complete security and confidentiality of your clients and their brands.

With Remote Filming, no other streaming or cloud services are required. It can be used with or without a Video Assist/ Playback Op and integrates seamlessly with Qtake. It works for multi-camera, location or studio and can be viewed by as many people in as many places as your production needs.

Our HIJACK DITs can quickly setup the stream on set, or we can configure it remotely if you are shooting abroad or have your own DIT.

During the shoot viewers can watch the camera feed with ultra-low latency and communicate through text chat on our HIJACK portal.

With Remote Filming the production saves money on flights, transport and hotel rooms.  It also delivers the universal benefit of reducing the environmental impact of film production through less travel. This is especially the case for international productions, multi-location and series shoots.

Whether uploading proxies, live streaming, or joining a Zoom call – everyone needs to be able to depend on a solid and reliable internet connection on a shoot. Our HIJACK location internet kits provide you with the peace of mind that you’ll be able to do your job wherever you are.

The kits themselves come with a weatherproof aerial (extendable to 3m), and a 50m ethernet cable reel. This gives you the freedom to position the aerial for the best signal without having to physically move from where you need to be.

Based on your location we can identify which network will provide you the best signal and, if required, we can switch you over remotely.

The kits are very easy to use and can be dry-hired with no need for an operator from Hijack. Just plug in the power cable and the aerial and you are up and running.

We even have battery powered versions which can provide power for up to 23 hours.

Projects these days can involve collaborators all over the world. A shoot may take place here in the UK, while the edit and grade could be happening the other side of the globe. This can mean the transfer of huge files and large volumes of data.

HIJACK can help with our ultra-fast and secure 1Gbps connection, making the transfer of large files (such as original camera rushes) to multiple recipients as quick as copying to a drive.

When shooting with a HIJACK DIT, you can walk away with a physical copy of your rushes on wrap as we make an additional backup of your rushes to our RAID arrays. Then we upload to our secure Portal or your own FTP system from our East London Lab.

Our comprehensive DIT training programme has been developed by accredited teachers and trainers who also have experience in the field. The course firstly covers all aspects of the practical DIT experience. The hands-on training is underpinned with a thorough understanding of camera setups, digital workflows, colour management and additionally, client care.

The intensive course is delivered in a professional training environment with theory and practical learning opportunities. This is followed by mentoring and on-set shadowing as a trainee before our learners subsequently graduate and go on to become Hijack digital imaging technicians.

Throughout the process we provide comprehensive support in addition to regular opportunities for feedback. This gives all of our DITs the confidence and skills to enjoy their work and most importantly, provide the best possible service to our clients.

Our DaVinci grading suite is equipped with Davinci Resolve Advanced Panels and 4K HDR grade one monitoring, and has been calibrated for precise colour rendition covering 100% of P3 (Cinema) and Rec709 (HDTV Broadcast).

HIJACK London DCP and deliverables service masters the formats that meet your distribution requirements for D-cinema, broadcast, online or VOD. Our comprehensive versioning checklist and clear scheduling system ensures that delivery is compliant, error-free and on time.

Whatever format your film is in we can use it to make your DCP. We support all DCP formats including 2K, 4K, 3D Stereoscopic, HFR, HDR, and IMAX. Additionally we handle all audio formats right through to Dolby Atmos, and can up-mix your stereo audio ready for cinema playback.

We can create Interop or SMPTE DCP masters as well as ensuring your DCP complies to stringent Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) standards. This includes converting your film to the X’Y’Z colour space and JPEG 2000 encoding as per the DCI specification.

We can also create an XML and add subtitles to your DCP for international screenings or distribution to other markets.

We can encrypt your DCPs and issue KDMs and DKDMs (Distribution Key Delivery Message) so that you can provide a key to unlock for screenings as you wish.

At HIJACK our rigorous QC process is applied to all DCP masters and duplicates so you know your film will look and sound as planned.

Our DCPs are standardly delivered on a SATA drive in a protective peli case, but we can also transfer to your own hard disk or even a USB thumb drive.

We can also extract your film from an existing DCP to create a playable Prores master.

Digital Source Master (DSM)

A Digital Source Master (DSM) is the full quality digital master of your film. HIJACK render your film at the highest quality possible and depending on your shooting format this might be Prores file or a 10-bit DPX/ TIFF Sequence of your finished film.

Digital Cinema Distribution Master (DCDM)

Before creating your Digital Cinema Package (DCP) for distribution we encode your picture, audio, subtitles and metadata into an uncompressed and unencrypted package.

DPP – Broadcast AS11 file delivery

HIJACK encode AS11 files for Digital Production Partnership compliant delivery embedding all necessary metadata. Our service includes a thorough eyeball and automatic QC (AQC) process with PSE testing.

Interoperable Master Format (IMF)

Distribute multiple versions of your film to multiple destinations without the need for different masters. Within an IMF Package  the Composition Play Lists (CPL) reference different “essences” (video, audio, captioning, metadata) wrapped into the MXF. This means different versions can be created for different audiences on the fly.

This flexibility coupled with support for resolutions up to UHD, and with no limit on the number of audio channels, has meant that IMF has become the required format for VOD distributors such as Netflix and Amazon.

Both during a shoot and after your film has been completed, create LTO backups of your media to ensure that it can be safely stored and quickly retrieved at any time. LTO is the industry standard tape technology, and is a safe and reliable way to create a long-term archive of your assets and deliverables. HIJACK currently support LTO-5 right up to LTO-8 providing backup and retrieval rates of up to 750 MB/sec.

LTO is the industry standard tape technology, and is a safe and reliable way to create a long-term archive of your assets and deliverables. HIJACK currently support LTO-5 right up to LTO-8 providing backup and retrieval rates of up to 750 MB/sec and robust 256-bit AES encryption.

LTO media is cost effective and is significantly less expensive than equivalent disk based solutions. In addition it is also an open format – meaning that LTO drives and tapes from different companies are compatible with each other.

At HIJACK we recommend using the 3-2-1 strategy. This means having at least 3 total copies of your data, 2 of which are local but on different storage mediums (read devices), and at least 1 copy offsite. This ensures maximum safety.

Our robust software-based and eyeball QC processes check video and audio parameters, quality, legality and adherence to delivery specification.

At HIJACK, all of our deliverables go through a comprehensive QC process before leaving our studios.

Some of the potential technical problems with the picture include dead pixels, editing errors, freeze frames, digital and optical artefacts, and changes in aspect ratio.

Audio must also be thoroughly checked for quality issues. Potential issues include incorrect channel assignments, missing or extraneous dialogue and effects, and deviations from sync. 

Our ratings based eyeball QC reporting provides standardised technical feedback from our QC team. In addition, our software-based Automated QC systems can check for legal compliance to technical standards including PSE/ Flash detection.

Each delivery is different so we ensure we tailor our QC process to your delivery spec. This means that you have a detailed and thorough report allowing you to sign off with peace of mind before transmission or distribution.
